So … an English Gentleman and his man servant went out in the Egyptian desert in the midday sun.
It’s a stupidly hot day, and like everything, they’re both way too overdressed, and neither carried water.
And they’re walking in the sand, and walking in the sand and walking in the sand.
And its getting hotter, and dryer, hotter and dryer.
After a few hours, they’re both starting to get mad from heat stroke.
In the distance, they keep seeing lakes of water, shimming on the horizon, only for their hopes of water to be dashed as they realise these are all mirages… Sadly…
After neigh on most of the day, walking, baking, glimpsing mirage after mirage, they’re both delirious with heat stroke.
And then one of the mirages, as they get close, no longer disappears back into the horizon…
… and as they get closer, they both see what looks like tents in the distance.
And after a bit, the tents get larger, bigger, more real, and they realise they’ve stumbled upon a community market.
They get to the market.. and there’s stalls for as far as the eye can see… hundreds, nay! Thousands of stalls!
And they think, at last they’re be able to drink water and sooth their massive headaches, and their pains from the sun..
… but stall after stall, they seller is selling variations of the same things: custard-based desserts! Some in tall glasses, some in bowls, almost all with different types of jelly.
They walk their way through each store, and they’re all virtually the same… Custard and Jelly based desserts as far as the eye can see.
The Englishman and his man servant reach the last stall and move on back into the desert in search of water..
The man-servant turns to the Gentleman and says, “Saab! What do you make of that market! Custard desserts by the thousand, but not a single glass of water! What do you make of that, sir?!”
The Gentleman carries on forward, responding,
“Yes. It was a triffle bizarre”
